Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health - (Level 1 RQF/Level 4 SCQF)

This awareness course is suitable for everyone as it provides learners with the knowledge to recognise the signs of a poor mental health and the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost a person towards professional help.
Course Content
- Provide an overview of what mental health is, why people develop mental health conditions and the role of a First Aider for Mental Health.
- Understand how to start a conversation and provide practical support for a person presenting a mental health condition.
- How to recognise and effectively manage stress.
- Know how to recognise a range of mental health conditions.
NB: This is an awareness course it does not qualify to be a First Aider for Mental Health
Assessment
To gain the qualification you will need to successfully pass an assessment which consists of multiple-choice questions and open questions. This will take place via Zoom as a one to one with your Tutor (approx. 30 minutes) or if you are completing the course in person it will take place on the day of your training.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, you can receive either:
- RQF Level 1 Award: FAA Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health (RQF)
- SCQF Level 4 Award: Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health at SCQF Level 4
Qualification is valid for three years from the date of completion.

The course needs to be completed within two weeks from the agreed start date.
On-line Tutor led session via Zoom: 3 hours + self-study (min 3 hrs)
Face to face on-site: half a day

- Further additional information and resources to compliment the learning experience and support self-study.
- Access to a qualified Tutor to ask questions.
- Upon successful completion of the Assessment, you will be sent a digital certificate.
