Sarah Shimmen - Workplace Wellbeing Consultant | Resilience Educator | FAMH Trainer | Cancer & Work Advocate

I’m Sarah, based in Edinburgh, with over 20 years’ experience supporting people to build resilience, confidence and emotional wellbeing at work. I specialise in accredited First Aid for Mental Health training, resilience programmes and practical wellbeing workshops that help individuals and organisations create psychologically safe, healthy and high‑performing environments.

My approach is warm, person centred and grounded in real life experience. I create spaces where people feel understood, supported and able to develop the skills they need to thrive.

A Personal Note

In 2024, I was diagnosed with cancer. Moving through treatment while continuing to work reshaped my understanding of resilience, uncertainty, identity and the emotional labour of navigating illness. It deepened my empathy, sharpened my insight and strengthened my commitment to helping others feel safe, supported and empowered, especially during life’s most challenging moments.

This lived experience now informs my work in a meaningful way. Alongside my workplace training, I offer support, advocacy and resilience sessions for people living with cancer and their carers, helping them manage overwhelm, communicate their needs and maintain a sense of control and hope.

My Values
• Compassion — meeting people where they are
• Psychological safety — creating spaces where people feel able to speak openly
• Practicality — tools that genuinely help in daily life
• Humanity — wellbeing is about people, not performance metrics
• Growth — supporting people to rebuild confidence and move forward
